Live Show Recording

We can record live shows largely without anyone knowing we are there. We do need some time to prepare with the venue staff and ensure we can record, so check with the venue ahead of time to make sure it's possible. Typically it's just a matter of plugging our equipment into the house board, setting our levels, and making sure it all runs smoothly. After the show, our sound engineer takes the recordings back to be mixed and finalized.

On-Site Recording

Hassle-free recording is our top priority. Leave your gear in place, just like you would for a regular band practice. Our on-site recording session begins as we place our microphones and other equipment around yours, making a few changes in the setup to ensure a good quality recording. We then set mic levels as you practice normally, and that's it. Ready to record.

It's entirely up to you how to procede, but if you're new to the world of recording high qualiy music then here's a quick primer. To record an entire song in as little time as possible, we record as everyone in the band plays through the song together, exactly as you'd expect to hear in the final song. However, for higher quality, we typically record one instrument at a time. First the drummer lays down the drum tracks. Other musicians can play along, but recorded tracks other than drums are later discarded as "scratch tracks." Next, we play the recording several times, and the next musician plays along as we record that instrument into the mix. Finally, we record the vocal tracks. Quality is much higher than simply recording the whole band at once, but this process takes more time. To save time, we can record the entire band at once except vocals, which we add in the final step - good overall sound with clean vocals.

Video Recordings

Our videos are an add on to the audio services we provide. Depending on the venue we can use a single camera, or multiple cameras to get a professional feel. Our cameraman will shoot the show, while our audio technician records audio. After the show, we combine the two signals into one, so you have the professional recording synchronized with your video.

Your Time, Your Decisions

We recognize that alot of studios want to push you to fit their schedule, and get your project done, so they can shuffle you out the door and get the next band in. We strive for customer satisfaction, and want your input on everything we do. A project is never done until you say it is. If you have any ideas for something different or out of the ordinary, just let us know. We can work around pretty much anything you want to do.

Mixing each song can be a long and tedious process, but it is critical for a good sound. Time required depends on many factors, so rather than charging for a lengthy process, we charge per song, rather than per hour for mixdown. You can choose to be present or not for mixdown, but having your input will ensure your recording sounds as you want, rather than as our engineer thinks it should sound.
